AWANA
We have enjoyed having 70 to 80 young people each Wednesday evening. Awana Quizzing with our T&T clubbers was on February 10, 2007. (See children's page for results)

We are planning our first Awana Grand Prix April 28, 2007 on the church grounds.

The Awana Grand Prix is a Pinewood Derby-style event. The first Awana Grand Prix was held in 1964. Approximately 200,000 boys and girls compete annually in more than 5,000 Grand Prix events nationwide.

The Awana Grand Prix is a family-oriented event that allows clubbers to express their ingenuity by creating and racing their own wooden Grand Prix cars. Grand Prix events usually last about two hours or the equivalent of one club meeting.

Weeks before the race, our clubbers will purchase small pine blocks of wood and plastic wheels from which they construct their cars, usually with the help of a parent or leader. Many churches also offer a “Grand Prix Construction Workshop” to help beginners and those not mechanically gifted.

The cars race on a wooden four-lane track. Awards are given for both design and speed. Clubs award first-, second- and third-place trophies for each category. Each clubber who participates also receives a ribbon.

V.B.S. Set Sail, Spread the Good News

The Good News was spread here June 5-10, 2006, with the hopes to spread it all around the world. We had a good time with Splash the Dolphin and other puppet friends.

Everyone enjoyed singing, Bible stories from the life of Paul, and crafts. Each night refreshments were served that helped us remember the Bible lessons.

The 'Come Ashore Store' was a fun place to spend the Captain's bucks they earned thru the week. We had a total enrollment of 69 with an average of 40.

CHRISTMAS Program December 17

Our program was called Miracle on Main Street. We took a trip down Main Street in a small American town visiting families with different views on the Christmas celebration. It turned our focus to the Christ who came as a baby.

Following the Program everyone enjoyed a time of fellowship with cookies, spicy apple drink or hot cocoa.

Missions Conference
We again enjoyed a great blessing with a full week of meetings during our 61st. Annual Missionary Conference. The theme was "Ordinary People Extraordinary God". Each evening included a Mini-Concert, Field Report and Message. We had our October Fellowship, a noon meal of barbecued or plain beef and pork with veggies, salads and desserts, on the last Sunday of the conference. Missionaries for our Fall Conference October 22 - 29, 2006 were:

Larry and Lilia Baird
Larry is from Western Kansas. He trusted Christ at the age of 11 and graduated from Citadel Bible College in 1985 and from Calvary Theological Seminary in 2005. He met Lilia at Rio Grande Bible Institute where they were married. Lilia is from Chihuahua, Mexico and was saved at 23 years of age while she attended an Independent Baptist church in Baja California, Mexico. They have been serving with Biblical Ministries Worldwide in Chihuahua, Mexico for the past 16 years. They are planning to open a new area of service in Zacatecas, Mexico upon return to the field.

James Gleaves James and his wife, Diane, have served with New Tribes Mission since 1985.  They served in Colombia, South America from 1986 until 1996.  In 1999 they moved to the Saint Louis, Missouri area where James now serves as a representative for New Tribes.  James has lived an interesting life which includes working with a nomadic people group deep
in the Amazon rainforest and later being held at gunpoint by terrorists.

Frank and Kathy King are church planter missionaries serving with Biblical Ministries Worldwide in the Province of Venice, Italy. Frank and Kathy were appointed as missionaries almost 33 years ago. They arrived in Italy Feb. 1, 1975 where they have served ever since. Salina Bible Church has supported the Kings this entire time. The Kings present church planting ministries in the Venice Province involve not only an Italian church that has just become completely indigenous, but also Filipino and Gypsy church plants with plans for others on the horizon. Since Frank is a pianist and his wife, Kathy, sings, they often minister thru music. The Kings have 5 children who have been a real asset to the ministry as well. Four of them are now married and their youngest Stephen is presently attending Calvary.

The Wissmann Family of 13 children and their parents were with us for the first Sunday through Tuesday. They provided music at all services.
