The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the plenary and verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed. II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20, 21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12, 13.
The Trinity
We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections and worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence and obedience. Gen. 1:1; John 10:30; 4:24; 1:1-4; Isaiah 63:8-10; Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 12:29; Acts 5:3, 4; II Cor. 13:14; Hebrews 1:1-3; Rev. 1:1-3. back to top
Total Depravity
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adams sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that man is totally depraved, and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. Gen. 1:26, 27; Rom. 3:22, 23; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3, 12.
Personality of Satan
We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the deceiver of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and, that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire. Job 1:6, 7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11; 25:41; Rev. 20:10. back to top
Virgin Birth
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God, became man, with out ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. John 1:1, 2, 14; Luke 1:35.
Blood Atonement
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption solely through His death on the cross as a representative, voluntary, substitutionary sacrifice. The shed blood of Jesus Christ is the only atonement for sins. Rom. 3:24, 25; I Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7. back to top
Resurrection
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ and His ascension into heaven, and that He is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. Acts 1:9,10; Hebrews. 9:24; 7:25. Also, we believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. Matt. 25:46; John 5:28, 29; Rev. 20:5, 6, 12, 13.
Justification by Faith
We believe that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Acts 13:38, 39.
Person and work of The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement, and that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. Also we believe that it is the privilege and expectation of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. John 16:8-11, I Cor. 12:12-14, Eph. 1:13, 14; John 16:13; I John 2:20; Eph. 5:18. back to top
Eternal Life
We believe that all the redeemed, once saved are kept by Gods power and are thus secure in Christ forever. It is the privilege of all believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of Gods Word; which however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; I John 5:11-13; Gal. 5:13.
The Church
We believe that the Church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers of this present age. Eph. 1:22, 23; 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2. back to top
Separation from the World
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord; and, that separation from all religious apostacy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded of God. James 4:4; Romans 12:1, 2; I John 2:15, 16; II Cor. 6:14; 7:1.
Two Natures
We believe that every saved person possesses two natures, with provision made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit; and, that all claims to the eradication of the old nature in this life are unscriptural. Rom. 6:13; 8:12, 13; Gal. 5:16-25; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:10; I Peter 1:14-16; I John 3:5-9. back to top
Missions
We believe that it is the obligation of the saved to witness by life and word and to proclaim the Gospel to all the world. Acts 1:8; I Cor. 15:1-4.
The Eternal State
We believe in the eternal, conscious punishment of every unsaved person. Matt. 25:46; Rev. 22:11; and the eternal joy of every saved person. John 14:16; Phil. 3:20.
The Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the personal, imminent, pretribulation and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones; and in His subsequent return to earth, with His saints, to establish His Millennial Kingdom. I Thess. 4:13-18; Zech. 14:4-1; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6. back to top Movements Contrary to Faith
Neo-Orthodoxy: That subtle form of liberalism, which by profession claims to be evangelical, but in practice continues to actively follow and promote liberal theology. We believe this to be a change of face, not a change of faith, that has deceived many. It involves alteration of terms, but not an improved adherence to truths from a Divinely-inspired text. Titus 1:16.
Neo-Evangelicalism: that subtler form of cooperation between believer and unbeliever, for the most part promoted by born-again evangelicals, but nonetheless resulting in an unscriptural and unequal yoke. Our position is that there can be no homogenization of the true evangelical and the true liberal elements in evangelization efforts today. II Cor. 6:14; Amos 3:3.
The World Council of Churches and the Ecumenical Movement: We oppose any dialogue which may so much as even tend toward minor unification between Protestantism and Rome, represented by the so-called concessions and overtures of The Roman Catholic Curia, coupled with the constant efforts of the WWC and the NCC (National Council of Churches). Rev. 18:4.
Charismatic: The Salina Bible Church does not foster, teach, or provide a hospitable atmosphere for the tongues movement. Tongues is not a part of our experience or ministry, nor is it beneficial or necessary to our Christian life. It is neither sought nor encouraged. We are non-charismatic. I Cor. 14:12-14. back to top
Baptism
We believe that all persons confessing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior should follow the Lord in believers baptism. The mode of immersion is practiced by this Church. Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:36-38; Luke 3:21, 22.
The Lords Table
We believe this is open to all born-again believers and should be observed on a regular basis. I Cor. 11:23-26.
Membership
We believe all persons confessing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and having followed Him in baptism, should join a local Bible Believing Church. We would welcome you at Salina Bible Church.
